The logistics behind WUHE have been carefully thought out in order to bring the spotlight to the cause of Health awareness as well as FREE education for a healthier lifestyle throughout our nation. In order to have a better understanding of the seriousness of this project, please read on how it is structured:
1. Dr. Godby will walk across the USA - the 1/5 of the walk (600 miles) will take place in 2022, starting in Myrtle Beach, SC, and walking, on foot, to Knoxville, TN, September 12 to October 11 (please see attached itinerary).
2. Dr. Godby encourages others to walk with him, in South or North Carolina, or Tennessee, whether it be for very short or very long distances. Walkers are responsible for their own transportation, to and from walk.
3. Dr. G. encourages communities along the way to organize and schedule educational health events at as many events and venues as possible, such as: schools, libraries, churches, medical offices, or other places in town where people gather.
4. Dr. G. will push a “jogging stroller,” carry some provisions, and plan on camping overnight, unless other lodging is provided.
5. Each day’s walk will take approximately 8 hours, depending on the day’s scheduled distance, and the many conversations along the way. The average miles per day is about 22. Most days, the walk will begin about 7-8 am, and end about 4, depending on local events planned, and other unforeseen factors.
6. Media (local and national) should be contacted through press releases, or phone calls to news rooms of local media.
7. Governors, legislators and mayors of towns, and elected officials can be contacted.
8. Churches, temples, mosques, fraternal organizations, should be invited to host preventive medicine talks for the day WUHE is scheduled for their town.
9. Topics of community forums include, but not limited to: Vitamin D, access to safe drinking water, exercise, fitness, access to fruit and vegetables, nutrition, mental health issues, and safe neighborhoods.
